  • They fly in groups and when it rains they all shelter together in the same shrub.
  • The leaves of the passion flower are poisonous to insects but the caterpillars of these butterflies have become resistant and use it to become poisonous themselves to deter predation by insect eaters.
  • Wing-span about 70 mm.
  • As with the Monarch butterfly, this butterfly advertises its unpalatability with characteristic orange and black warning coloration.
